Reading Note Extra Credit: Brer Rabbit unit

The first story was about how the legends of the words that the frogs used to communicate has died. No one knows how to write the words down. There are some people, however, who can get close to saying the words. The second story was about Brer Rabbit trying to get away from work. He thought he would use a well to hide in so he couldn’t be found. Brer Fox however followed him and saw that he was in the well. Brer Rabbit tricked Brer Fox into coming down the well which let Brer Rabbit out. The Third story was about Brer Buzzard and how he tricked Brer Rabbit into going to a gold mine with him after their crops had failed which ended in Brer Rabbit coming home with a limp. In the next story Brer Fox goes to Brer Rabbits home and tries to find an excuse to hurt the baby Rabbits. A bird comes to the rescue of the baby rabbits and tells them how to get the chores that Brer Fox has given them done. In the next story Brer Fox plants, a garden. Brer Rabbit comes and steals from the garden and Brer Fox decided that he knows how to catch Brer Rabbit and sets a trap. Brer Rabbit gets caught but trick Brer Bear into letting him down and taking his place and his punishment. The next story was about Mr. and Mrs. Terrapin. The animals went to help make candy and Mrs. Terrapin put them all to work. Then they went to help Mr. Terrapin and they were struggling with pulling the rope. The next story about when the animals had a town meeting and they all came together. Once the meeting had started the animals sit. They were crushing the crawfishes and killing them. This made the craw-fish mad. They dug into the ground until the made a geyser of water that flooded the place they were killing all of the animals. The last story was just a bunch of proverbs from that time period.
